Root Cause Analysis with Enriched Process Logs

چکیده
In the field of process mining, the exploitation of event logs for the purpose of root cause analysis is a relatively unexplored area. This paper proposes an approach to enrich and transform process-based logs for the purpose of root cause analysis through the application of classification techniques. This approach facilitites an objective identification of the root cause(s) of various incidents as it is grounded on what has actually happened, thus, minimizing the influence of subjective perceptions in the results. The approach proposed in this paper is formalized and its applicability has been validated using both self-generated logs and a publicly-available log. Pariket: Mining Business Process Logs for Root Cause Analysis of Anomalous Incidents
Process mining consists of extracting knowledge and actionable information from event-logs recorded by Process Aware Information Systems (PAIS). PAIS are vulnerable to system failures, malfunctions, fraudulent and undesirable executions resulting in anomalous trails and traces. The flexibility in PAIS resulting in large number of trace variants and the large volume of event-logs makes it challe...
متن کاملRoot Cause and Error Analysis
Error is an inevitable part of life and cannot be completely eliminated, but it can be minimized. A root cause analysis is a technique for understanding the systematic error causes that is involved beyond a person or people to implement an errors and including field and environmental causes of errors when occur in this situation too. An important factor of an error occurrence is a root cause (c...
متن کاملUnderstanding Customer Problem Troubleshooting from Storage System Logs
Customer problem troubleshooting has been a critically important issue for both customers and system providers. This paper makes two major contributions to better understand this topic. First, it provides one of the first characteristic studies of customer problem troubleshooting using a large set (636,108) of real world customer cases reported from 100,000 commercially deployed storage systems...
متن کاملStructural Feature Selection for Event Logs
We consider the problem of classifying business process instances based on structural features derived from event logs. The main motivation is to provide machine learning based techniques with quick response times for interactive computer assisted root cause analysis. In particular, we create structural features from process mining such as activity and transition occurrence counts, and ordering...
متن کاملStructured Comparative Analysis of Systems Logs to Diagnose Performance Problems
Diagnosis and correction of performance issues in modern, large-scale distributed systems can be a daunting task, since a single developer is unlikely to be familiar with the entire system and it is hard to characterize the behavior of a software system without completely understanding its internal components. This paper describes DISTALYZER, an automated tool to support developer investigation...
